The Auvergne is one of the least densely populated areas of France. And so it is also one of the best places to take a drive in the natural environment. Preferably by motorcycle thanks to the region's beautiful roads and gentle curves. The region is also home to the nature reserve known as the Parc naturel régional des Volcans d'Auvergne. Green hilltops that stretch out forever, summits rounded by the wind, and villages nestling between herds of cows and mountain streams. And, amidst the pastures, the burons, former shepherd's huts where you can sometimes stop for a memorable meal.
Where to sleep : at the hotelF1 in Clermont-Ferrand and Coudes.
Tips :
• In the cirque d'Eylac, the Col de la Croix Saint-Robert or the Brezons valley, enjoy a traditional Auvergne meal in a buron, a former shepherd's hut now used as an inn or restaurant.
• Swim in a volcanic crater at over 1,200 metres in the lakes of Guéry, Pavin or Godivelle.
